Apple unveiled its latest MacBook, the 2022 MacBook Air, at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2022. It runs on Apple's new M2 chip, which replaces the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra in Apple's stable of powerful processors. The new MacBook Air will cost $1,19,900 in India and $1,199 in the United States.

Not only that, but the 13-inch MacBook Pro will also receive the M2 update and will cost $1,29,990.

According to Apple, the MacBook Air is the best-selling laptop in the world and is available in four colour variants: silver, space grey, and the new "starlight" and "midnight" trims. In terms of physical dimensions, it has a 20% volume reduction and is 11.3 mm thin. It is also less than half an inch thick and weighs about 1.2 kg. It also has a larger Retina display with a 13.6-inch notch and much smaller bezels. It has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and a fan-less design.

The design has also evolved from the traditional wedge shape to a more conventional, squared-off look.

Apple claims that the M2 will be 1.9x faster than the "latest 10-core PC laptop chip." New performance and efficiency cores power the M2. It also has a memory bandwidth of 100Gbps and supports 24GB of unified memory. To put this into perspective, the M2 has 50% more memory bandwidth than the M1.

The M2 has four performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, as well as a 16MB cache on performance cores and a 4MB cache on efficiency cores.

The MacBook Air will also get a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, as well as new microphones and speakers that can support Dolby Atmos.

In terms of I/O, the MacBook Air gets two USB Type-C/Thunderbolt ports as well as a new power adapter that Apple claims can charge the new MacBook Air completely in less than 20 minutes.
