Following a government order, BGMI has been explicitly banned in India.

If you searched for BGMI on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you would be surprised to learn that it is no longer available. It's because the game has reportedly been banned in India by the government. Although there has been no official statement from the Government of India, it is likely due to its close ties with PUBG Mobile, which was banned last year.

Following a government order, BGMI has been banned in India.

Google statement: "On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.”

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar submitted a written report to the Rajya Sabha on existing banned apps and how developers are using similar names to put apps in marketplaces. As the name implies, BGMI is an Indian version of the popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile, which is most likely why it was removed from the marketplace.

The game has been removed from the Google Play Store, according to BGMI creator Krafton. According to Google's response, the game was removed "on receipt of the order." Google reported that it followed a standard procedure to remove the game from the Play Store and that the developer (Krafton) has been notified that the app has been blocked in India.

If you're curious about what happens next, BGMI isn't available on either the App Store or the Google Play Store. Unless the order is reversed, it won't be possible for a while. After PUBG Mobile was banned in India, the developers tweaked the game to make it more palatable and relaunched it as BGMI. However, because BGMI has been removed from the marketplace, you will be unable to download it. Those who already have the game installed on their devices can play it, though it remains to be seen if it stops working, similar to what happened to PUBG Mobile.
