How to Get Your IP Address on a Mac

The quickest and easiest way to find your public IP address is to open your preferred web browser and type "what is my IP address" into Google. Your public IP address should be displayed at the top of the search results page in its own separate box.

If you don't want to use Google, you can look up your public IP address manually.

What’s the Difference Between a Public and Private IP Address?

A public IP address is an internet address that can apply to a single computer or an entire network. A private (or "local") IP address is used to access a local network and is assigned by your router to each connected device. Devices on different networks can share the same private IP address, but no two systems can share the same public IP address at the same time.
