Xiaomi 12S Ultra has been confirmed to feature a massive 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor, with a July 4 launch date.

The Xiaomi 12S series will be available in China, according to Xiaomi. Xiaomi's new flagship lineup, the 12S series, will feature cutting-edge hardware. The series is expected to include three smartphones from Xiaomi. The Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra are among them. On July 4, the new flagship smartphones will be unveiled.

According to reports, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is actually the 12 Ultra, which was supposed to be released in March. The company delayed the launch in order to offer its high-end flagship with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Xiaomi has now confirmed one of the Ultra smartphone's standout features.

The new Sony IMX989 camera sensor, Sony's largest mobile sensor, will be included with the 12S Ultra. It will feature a 1-inch sensor, the largest on any Xiaomi smartphone to date. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was equipped with a 50MP 1/1.12-inch Samsung GN2 sensor. A larger sensor should help capture more details, particularly in low-light situations. Of course, the sensor should have a large shallow depth of field.

Xiaomi did not confirm the resolution, but the 12S Ultra is expected to have a 50MP main camera sensor, according to rumors. The company confirmed that it worked with Leica on the 12S series. Leica will contribute to the camera setup of the 12S Ultra.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra: Specifications 

Some information about the top-tier Xiaomi smartphone has previously leaked. The 50MP main camera will be accompanied by a 48MP ultrawide camera, according to the leaked details. Xiaomi will also include two periscope camera sensors with different focal lengths with the phone. The quad-camera setup is mounted on a massive camera island in the back.

According to the leaked design renders, the 12S Ultra does not have a secondary display. The front panel features a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution. The device will have a hole-punch cutout in the top center and will support a refresh rate of 120Hz.

As previously stated, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC will be at the heart of the device. The device will be available with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage at launch. The 12S Ultra will be powered by a 5000 mAh battery. Out of the box, it will support 120W fast charging.

In addition to the 12S Ultra, the company will release the vanilla 12S and the 12S Pro in China. The devices are expected to arrive in India later this year.
