According to reports citing a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the Motorola Razr 3 will be released in the coming months. The announcement of the launch of Motorola's third-generation foldable smartphone comes after Shen Jun, Motorola's general manager, reportedly posted a teaser for the device on Weibo last week. While the teaser poster does not reveal much, it does show the silhouette of the rumoured Motorola Razr 3 – as well as a logo for Qualcomm's latest-generation flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1.

Motorola has been working on the Razr 3 foldable smartphone for some time, according to reports, with 91mobiles showing live images of the upcoming smartphone earlier this month. The teaser post now suggests that the company is nearing the launch of the device, which could be unveiled this week and available through retail channels in China by the end of July this year.

The teaser poster for the Motorola Razr 3 reveals only a V-shaped silhouette that appears to be similar to the smartphone's clamshell folding form factor. Previously, alleged live images of the smartphone revealed a boxier but more refined design in comparison to previous generations. The device appeared to have a glossy exterior, two cameras on the outside, and a single LED flash unit.

The smartphone may also include a single front-facing camera for video calling and self-portraits.

The only significant difference that interested users can expect from the upcoming foldable phone is flagship-level specifications. According to reports, the Motorola Razr 3 may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, which the new teaser poster appears to confirm. Other notable features include up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

In terms of cameras, the Razr 3 could have a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front camera. There may also be two colour options: Quartz Black and Tranquil Blue. Given that this is a new generation device, users may anticipate a new folding mechanism that is more durable.

The resurrected line of Razr foldable phones has not yet achieved the cult status that Motorola's original Razr clamshell folding phones had, owing to a variety of issues including lacklustre specifications, uninspiring durability, and a high price tag. It will be interesting to see if the new Razr 3 is able to correct these issues.
